Luxurious appearance and distinctive sailing characteristics

The Focus 800 is intended for classic boat enthusiasts who value the importance of stability, speed, comfort and user-friendliness. She reminds you of the yachts you saw a great deal in the 1930s: traditional contours with overhangs fore and aft that merge into one another.

The difference lies in the polyester hull, the rigging and the underwater section of the boat with a bulb keel. The beauty of the Focus is that it has been specially designed as a large, comfortable one-man boat. That is why the Focus has been equipped with a self-tacking jib, the mainsail has lazy-jacks and all the load control lines and sheets lead to a “trim table”. In this way, the helmsman/helmswoman has complete control within easy reach and the crew can thoroughly enjoy the peace and the water, without having to actively participate in sailing.

Although the elegant shape of the Focus 800 may remind you of times gone by, the yacht is a modern sailing boat in every respect. The hull is a glass reïnforced sandwich construction with vinylester resin which makes it more rigid, stronger and lighter. The deck has also been built in a sandwich construction and in places where fittings have been mounted, aluminium plates have been laminated into them.

A great deal of attention has been paid to user-friendliness and comfort. For example, all lines under the floor lead to the so-called “trim table” in the cockpit. The Focus 800 can be sailed single-handed perfectly with this facility. In the cockpit, which is now 10 cm wider, there is room for 2 seats on both sides (optional). Just as the helmsman’s seat, these have been produced with a broadly curved seat and good support for the back. The 450 kg bulb keel is important for stability. The Focus 800 can be supplied electrically powered or with a sail-drive diesel engine. In both cases, the engine will be installed under the aft deck. It is important that the propulsion is situated in front of the rudder, creating optimal pressure so that the boat can manoeuvre well in all conditions. The new Focus 800 DS can also be supplied in a keel/centreboard version. The Focus 800 was designed by Martijn van Schaik and developed by Niek Goes.

The basic version of the Focus is available for delivery from € 59.800,- and, with the very extensive list of optional extras, the Focus 800 can acquire the classic appearance that it once had.
